An evening of song with Kirsten Hutchinson: 7 June 2017

Kirsten Hutchinson, soprano, is currently engaged in the pursuit of a musical career in Fairbanks, Alaska. She enjoys a vibrant musical lifestyle as a soloist, private teacher, classroom instructor, and performer. She has played several principal roles with Opera Fairbanks, Anchorage Opera, University of Alaska Fairbanks’s Opera Workshop, and internationally with Théâtre Roger Barat in France and the Lowveld Chamber Music Association in South Africa. Some of these roles include; Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen, Desdemona/Nanetta in Verdi and the Bard, Roxy LaRue in the World Premiere of The Color of Gold, Flora in La Traviata, and Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. Kirsten has been a featured soloist at the UAF New Music Festival, the Vianden Festival in Luxembourg, and traveled for two consecutive sessions to Zimbabwe for Music Inspire Africa. She studied in the American Institute of Musical Studies: Graz 2015 Opera Studio and was selected to perform with the AIMS Festival Orchestra.
She appears frequently in solo recital in Fairbanks, and has also given performances at the Eastman School of Music in New York, Loyola University in Louisiana, White River and Nelspruit, SA, and in her home state of Maine.

Joining her will be Stirling High School’s fabulous piano teacher, Jacques du Plessis, Dr Piet Swanepoel (violin) and Walter Fourie (tenor).
