Founders’ Celebrations: 2 & 3 August 2018

As part of Stirling High School’s Founders’ Day celebrations next week there will be two special music performances.

On Thursday 2 August there will be a piano recital by Matric pianist Daniel Brodie, who passed his Licentiate in Piano Performance from Trinity College London in Grade 11 – a performance standard normally attained only by qualified teachers. He has consistently won the trophy for Most Outstanding Pianist at the East London Music Eisteddfod and has been in the finals of the National Youth Music Competition in Cape Town and the Hennie Joubert National Piano Competition in Stellenbosch.

On Friday 3 August the Founders’ Day Music Evening will feature the Chamber Choir and Big Band. The Chamber Choir came top in the East London Eisteddfod, won the regional and national ATKV Competitions and earlier this month won their category and came fifth overall in their section of the World Choir Games. The Big Band continues to be one of the best school jazz bands in the country and at the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Festival in Grahamstown, five members of the band were selected for the National Schools’ Big Band.
